15th ANNUAL CONVENTION OF NAMA
DETROIT, MICHIGAN
JULY 1-3, 2006

The picnic at Drake Park was a refreshing time after a full day of events inside the meeting hall. The weather was perfect and co-operated fully for the barbecue outside. In the night, there was a Manipuri movie screening of "ANJALI" for those who remained further.

The movie was well-appreciated by the viewers and enjoyed the acting talents of the Manipuri artists. For the members who have not visited or have not been to Manipur for a while, it was refreshing to see the beautiful scenaries of the village and natural background.

The next day, several members went on to visit other vacation places around Michigan and Midwest including NIAGARA FALLS, Mackinaw Island in Upper Michigan and other destinations. The aim of the NAMA meeting will be to combine a meaningful meeting for the members and a great summer vacation for the NAMA families.

The newly elected office bearers of NAMA are:
1. Pukhrambam Lalit Singh, President
2. Nancy Yambem, Vice President
3. Lakshmikant Laikangbam, General Secretary
4. Amom Kebola, Assistant General Secretary
5. Sarita Moirangthem, Treasurer

It was decided that the President and his team will continue to work to select 3 executive members and regional co-ordinators or representatives.

In the Executive committee meeting, it was decided that the Membership fee and Annual Meeting fee will be collected separately. The Membership fee will be collected before January 1 of each year. Notification will go out on October 1, November 1 and December 1 in three reminders.

The meeting venue for the next 16th Annual Convention will be announced by December 1 (and thereafter each year) so that members can plan in advance. The venue for the 2007 NAMA Convention was tentatively discussed for Buffalo, New York. Registration and Meeting fee collection will start from March 1 of each year and reminders will be sent out on April 1 and May 1.

The meeting is held on the 4th July weekend each year. There will be a Program Committee of 3 members plus the President for the timely and successful organization of the meeting. Other agendas and minutes of the meetings will be communicated among the members individually and collectively through the Intra-network.

Strict rules will be applied to maintain and safeguard membership information privacy as required by the North American Governments as a Registered Organization. The NAMA IT team will continuously work in this regard.

The new NAMA team thanks the members and the previous committee for keeping the faith and trust to this new team (2 year term).

New organizational directions and items will be announced regularly through NAMA website at http://e-pao.net/nama/ and soon at NAMA's own website and http://www.namaonline.org and the intranet.

We are very encouraged by the response from the NAMA members this year even though many had prior commitments and could not attend the function. Next year, we plan to organize even more successful events and larger participation from existing and new members is expected.

We will work hard towards achieving this goal and perform the NAMA agenda truthfully.
